    Pros

    Decent pay for this area of the country

    Cons

    While they preach that patient care comes first, they put most emphasis on cost. They have totally lost focus of the mission statement by making it nearly impossible to work efficiently or as a team. Staffed now by mainly agency RNs after the exit of four out of six RNs a year ago, not to mention, taking away necessary pieces of equipment for critical care area (PACU). Management has absolutely no idea of the needs of the RNs, nor do they seem to care. The nursing administrator has only an ADN, which does not provide for any nursing management training, and it shows.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pay attention to your facilities that are not in Texas. This is NOT the USPI I know from 5 years ago. Staff used to be treated with respect and like we were really worth something, and patient care was number one. We had what we needed for good patient care and had a good, stable staff that worked together as a great team. A good team and happy staff ALWAYS translates to great patient care. Get back your focus and get rid of ineffective management.
