I have been working at United Way part-time for less than a year

The ability to meet the higher-ups in a large variety of businesses and organizations is unparalleled, potentially leading to future career options, since the CE position is inherently temporary. The job also teaches a useful and flexible skill set, including public speaking and communication skills, relationship building and networking, data entry, and basic accounting. Little oversight means your manage your own workload. Pay can be negotiated and seems to vary by location, but is typically between $12 and $15. Overall a very positive and fun experience.

Public speaking skills are a must; this position is not for the shy. Depending on your region, downtime may be common, even during the hectic campaign season (though this can sometimes be a plus).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Information is easily accessed, and the majority of the staff give input and collaborate on big decisions. If I had to suggest anything, it would be to diversify our fundraising practices beyond payroll deductions, but that's a minor issue. I really have no complaints.
