A textbook example of being just a number

I have been working at UnitedHealth Group full-time (more than an year)

The option to telecommute is perfect for people who don't want to go into the office, deep discounts with major phone companies and an awesome discount program with LA Fitness (for those who live there!) Pay often is above market average. For a salaried worker the PTO time is great.. almost one full day a pay period (Downside is that PTO is granted and not earned so you can't take it with you if you leave)

You really are just a number there. Even calling HR, you get off-shore reps in India who don't really know english and is not equipped to handle your issue. Managers often do not know what they are doing and often provide misguided information, lay-offs happen EVERY six months and is blanketed so there is no job secruity. The ONLY plan they offer is a High-deductable plan if you are higher than a certian pay grade so you are often worrying about getting sick as you can't afford the deductible. You get ZERO onboarding training except for web-based tutorials that often have wrong information. The company seems to make plans that do not benefit the company well. It turns into a contest of who can kiss up more because you are almost always thrown under the bus by co-workers, management and even senior leadership. Alot of internal bickering between the Optum side and the UHC side often makes it diffucut to complete tasks. The company itself seems to lack enthusiasm. Very hard to find a person there who is really happy at work as most people worry about losing their jobs. Was included in this latest round of layoffs that happens every six months. The company is supposed to provide you support in gaining a new position. I applied for these services two weeks ago and today I still have not heard back from them. Also they are supposed to flag your Taleo profile to show you were laid off to give you top consideration for new jobs posted but that doesn't happen either. RUN FAR from United! Its hard to rate culture and values on a company who themsevles is unsure of their culture.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your employees-- offer better benfits and get rid of management who doesn't know what they are doing or even more so throws employees under the bus.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO
