    I worked at UnitedHealth Group full-time (more than 8 years)


    Benefits are on the low side of average. Vacation time is forefit when you leave the organization. Be careful not to mention you are leaving before you use your vacation or they will block any use once you let them know. Increases can be good for promotions. Lots of openings (due to frequent reorganization and people in other cities being let go.)


    For all it's benefits and career oportunities UHC is a company you join fresh out of college, work their for 2 or 3 years and take the experience to an employer who wants to keep you for the long haul. Don't expect any of the hype about discrimination, ethical behavior, etc to get in the way of meeting your required goals. In the UHC corporate world it's all about stock price going up and double digit growth year over year. Stay too long at the party and they will find a way to show you the door since they only want single digit percentage of employees there over 10 years I was the last of the group that I was hired with to be let go. At least I was prepared for it. They have engagement surveys that are really ways to bash your manager. (their only purpose) They demand volunteerism as a promotional tactic in the communities. Oh, you want to use the vacation time you accrued, sorry were in a crunch, 2 months later, sorry were in a crunch. 4 months later still in a crunch. end of the year, sorry you have to forfeit your vacation, you should have used it earlier in the year. If your dept starts talking cultural diversity and you find you are working with loads of people out of the country, Thats code for your job is being outsourced normally to Hyderabad.. Training is mimimal when it comes to how at apply ethical behavior but loads about productivity.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    When its more about public perception rather than actual ethics you have already lost. All of the employees that you have systematically removed from your organization are now becoming decision makers at their new orgs and want nothing to do with UHG because they know what happens once behind the scenes.
