    I have been working at Universal Instruments full-time

    Pros

    People are great...(except for the ones who run the place( or I should say:"run it into the ground" )

    Cons

    Managemant hasn't a clue on how to run this type of global business.... Did they get there degrees online???? They send mach's out knowing they have issues and say fix it in the field...Now that is not what I call quality or a responsible running of a company... No wonder our competitors are kicking out behinds.... If it weren't for a few companies in China ,go figure, the lights would be turned off and we would be on unemployment... Fill the building with mach's that go nowhere and hope with a wing and a prayer, that they can sell them.... hire tons of temps..train them for a few weeks,let them go ,then bring in some more and hope that they are able to remember what they learned..way to go....experience is built on doing something and getting good at it ,not doing something for a few weeks and just getting your feet wet...
    The Co. used to do a great profit sharing plan and then combined it with our 401k which makes you lose your money faster.... great idea.... very little "cost of living " adjustment if any... management gets bonuses based on the work the builders deserve and the other people that actually do the physical work, so that they can sit in their cushy offices....Management does not talk to anyone about anything unless there is an issue that they can't fudge for themselves.... The head of Quality hasn't a clue..never shows there face or actually checks out the way things are..

    Don't go there,,, the only reason the temps come back is because the law for unemployment says they have to or lose their benefits.... It is a dying company ..a very slow,painful death...someone please turn the lights off of you are the last one out........

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    You cannot replace the experienced people with temps and expect them to do as well or to remember what they have learned by laying them off and bringing them back on a whim.... this is the most ridiculous way to run a major or what used to be a major global manufacturing co. I believe ,as many do in the whole company , that are still there..that you have ruined any chance of us getting what WE ,not YOU have built up in a good name for us as a WORLD WIDE ELECTRONICS CO. You care only about looks not quality..Most people there could not tell you who was who in the CRYSTAL PALACE because they do not interact with the people who actually get dirty. Management get their bonuses on the percentage of work done by everyone else and we get very little if any....
