I worked at Universal Service Administrative Company (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The benefits are great, HR team does a pretty decent job, flexible work hours and perks are all great! The new CEO looks promising and hopefully he will do a better job with changing the work environment at USAC and brining in more skilled managers, or training the ones already there.

    Cons

Managers do not know how to manage! Managers need extensive training on how to manage! Severe lack of people skills.
Negative work environment, low team morale, not enough team building
People sit in cubes that look like a prison cell, with high walls and screens - does not promote networking or open communication
Managers have no idea on how to manage people and help them grow their careers.
Managers do not set a good example of a 'manager' to younger peers that look up to them.
Managers lack people skills. Are technically knowledgeable but not skilled in communication, or building a solid strong team.
Overall negativity within the organization does not make it a place where one can sustain over a long period of time, no matter how good the benefits are.
Though employees voice their opinions and frustrations, management does not do a good job of listening and does not push back or stick up for their employees when issues arise.
Managers have a tendency to go directly to the employees manager, should an issue arise, instead of first speaking with the source and working upwards from there. Managers are always trying to catch you and complain at any given moment.
Pay is not very good, but the benefits make up for it. A good place to retire, but not a good place to grow!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Seek out proper Management training
Treat your employees with more respect
Be a good example for your younger staff that want to learn and grow and look up to you
Please don't send out emails with symbols, try to use proper English and grammar and complete sentences. We are all human beings, that deserve respect, no matter how young or old we are

    Doesn't Recommend
    Neutral Outlook
    Approves of CEO
