I have been working at University of Colorado at Boulder full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

What your job will lack in advancement opportunities, it makes up for in a vibrant campus and great people. Depending on the department, casual attire and flexible work schedules are attainable. Given lots of vacation. Despite state funding concerns, leadership appears to have a very forward-thinking plan for how to survive and thrive.

    Cons

Little room to move up the ladder (especially if you have little to no prior supervision experience). Departments appear to be understaffed across the campus. Lots of people wearing multiple hats and yet the pay is less than my peers outside of higher ed are making.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus and invest in the people just as much as you focus on the processes.
