I worked at University of Mary full-time (more than 5 years)

The faculty are incredibly dedicated. The sisters who created the university are wonderful and warm. The benefits are decent.

The place is becoming extremely conservative. You get the feeling that if you aren't Catholic, you aren't really welcome. This is completely due to the current administration. The more recent hires are equally conservative and have the attitude that if you disagree with them, you are wrong. No room for debate and no one wants to hear a different opinion, which is pretty much the opposite of what a university should be. Faculty and staff appreciate each other, but both groups share the feeling that administration views them as troublemakers. You can make more money for less work at the state schools (less work as measured by number of courses taught).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Figure out how to make people feel welcome, even if (or especially if) they are not Catholic. Talk to the sisters and learn how they did this. Make the faculty and staff feel welcomed and appreciated. You are focused on growth, but you are weakening your base at the same time. That will certainly lead to a future collapse.
