    I worked at University of New Hampshire part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Had good benefits but not any longer--that was only benefit of position besides great students and faculty
    Fringe benefits great at main campus, lousy at Manchester
    Students are great
    Some management are great (but stuck in a bad system)

    Cons

    Low pay to those who work hardest and very little effective staff support ; HR is more a tattle tail than a supporter of conflict. Can't share anything with them or try to inquire about possible outcomes because they "tell" and the boss calls you in to say "I heard". It's a disgrace.
    Benefits no longer good
    Falsified reviews --supervisors change what you write and you can't tell anyone because they are all in friendship with each other. Very very clicky
    Some management and directors have it a bit too cushy...chatting with family all day, on computer all day, not doing work and being a team-player

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Get rid of the clicks with HR--other companies I worked for did not allow HR staff to head up clicks. Reward your staff more appropriately rather then having them wait 10 years to win 'employee of the year' and commit to all your people, not just a few. Focus is all on students and faculty, staff get used and compensated poorly for keeping the school afloat. Without the loyal staff you have, you wouldn't have a salary for your faculty or administrators. You wouldn't have any students. Drop the ego and absorb some appreciation. Stop looking down at your PEERS who don't hold a PH.D to work in administration and give them a chance to prove themselves as career minded and focused employees capable of taking on a promotion once in a while. NO PROMOTIONS for ANYONE? Go anyplace else, you get promoted within a few years with a great review and receive great training. OFFER RELEVANT TRAINING FOR YOUR EMPLOYEES. All training is student focused, not employee focused.
