I worked at University of Toronto full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Nothing good to say about this hell hole for grad students.

    Cons

The professors are extremely arrogant and abusive to grad students. They do not include them in research, as they are supposed to be training them to do research. Instead, they take brilliant people in who have tremendous qualifications and have them grade papers. They humiliate their grad students so that they become depressed and feel worthless and have lost all self esteem. Myself and others have experienced long term illnesses as a result. Stay away from UofT.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

End the abusive environment. Given that you cannot fire tenured professors, end the PhD programs until they can be redesigned to ensure PhDs are receiving proper attention. Also, hire professors not only for their publication record - we all know this is a game - but also for their teaching and mentorship records.
