I worked at University of Utah full-time (more than 3 years)

Co-workers often come from diverse cultural backgrounds. Promotions often come from within. Good benefits. Tuition discount. Lots of opportunities to advance - you can keep an eye on the University job site for current employees if your current department isn't promoting.

I've worked in 5 different departments at the U of U, but at only 2 of those jobs did I feel that I was fairly compensated for the level of worked required.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Encourage feedback (anonymous if necessary) from your employees. Don't assume that seniority equals integrity. I twice worked with employees who were "encouraged to resign" after they had been dishonest with funds. However, if lower-level employees had been encouraged to give feedback, and senior management had actually listened, the losses would've been much less.
