I worked at University of Wisconsin-Stout (more than an year)

    Pros

Some flexibility if you need to address family, sick children, etc.

    Cons

If you want to accomplish anything or make an impact, forget it! Shared governance is a joke in this place. Who gets an advanced degree and a lifetime of experience only to find you have absolutely no ability to make decisions without consulting everybody and their mother? Nothing, and I do mean NOTHING gets done when everyone is forced to hold hands and sing Kum-baya before a simple decision can be made. There has got to be some middle ground between going of half-cocked making decisions and arriving at a consensus for every stupid detail. I am moderate to left-leaning, but this type of environment makes me appreciate those who label liberals as "libtards." Get a clue. If any of you ever have to work for a company that has to turn a profit, you are in big trouble.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Leadership....it's not a noun. It is a verb. Set a vision, and mission and take charge of the ship captain! In the meantime, the worker bees who have visions of shared governance grandeur are busy arranging the chairs of the deck on the Titanic.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
