    Pros

Met a lot of great people. Managers try to help and be encouraging and flexible. You schedule your own appointments so the hours are flexible. Laid-back office environment for the most part. They offer lots of incentives for certain amounts of sales. If you're a natural born cold-hearted sales person this is the job for you.

    Cons

Their job advertisements border on false advertisement. They claim you'll be making ten dollars an hour plus commission. It's really 10 dollars per appointment you cold call and schedule, which may or may not last an hour, and if you go over an hour at an appointment, you still only get 10 dollars unless you sold something. They encourage you to recruit your friends to join and you get a percentage of their sales commission. I don't remember the commission percentage but it goes up at certain dollar amounts of total sales. They take 99% of everyone who applies. It's cold calling knife sales that hold the expectation that you sell to your friends and family and they give you more people to contact. You have to go to mandatory conferences hours away and they just repeat the same motivational BS and they don't cover any of the costs of traveling or meals or hotel stays depending on how far it is.. Also, when I moved they told me they would transfer me to nearby office and I could keep working for them', About two weeks after I moved I got a notice from them that if I didn't return the knife set they "loaned" to me or purchase it, that they would have me charged with grand theft in the place where I was before. I paid for the knives, but seriously, I offer to transfer, there isn't an office within two hours of me, and then they punish/threaten to put me in jail because they lied about conatacting the local manager in addition to the location of their own office.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be upfront and honest with your job posting. Explain the financial aspects of being an independent sales person as far as taxes and what is deductible. Don't tell your staff that they can transfer if you haven't personally spoken with the manager of the office they're going to transfer to.
