    Pros

For many, it is a much less stressful position in the retail environment compared to that of management and the Solutions Specialist. Experience Specialists will most likely gain a broader skill set and working knowledge of how the business operates. Experience Specialists with sales experience will thrive in this role and may promote to management positions faster; and with a better grasp of the companies vision. Overtime is encouraged and employees are paid and additional 35% per hour for working Sundays.

    Cons

Very few full time positions available. ( Most employees that are FT Experience Specialists are grandfathered into the roll.) Duties within the position can range from basic all day greeting to operationally critical tasks. Pay is not defined well, and supplementary compensation is minimal for PTE's.
Medical benefits cost around 250% more than the average FTE. (expect to pay close to $200 per person insured per pay cycle) Time off is limited as well. Average weekly hours scheduled will still feel like a full time job, with many "part time" employees still working close to 40/hrs a week. If not more.

    Advice to Management

To Management (District Manager and Above) Get to know your employees. Spend more time on the front lines. Most retail employees will admit that there is a vast disconnect between those working daily in the stores and those that do not. Promote job shadowing, (This is crucial to discovering your untapped talent base.) Address the cost of benefits for part time employees and their dependents. With so much emphasis on shareholder value it may be time to include company stock purchase plans for all employees along side the 401k options. Lastly, but most importantly: District Managers are probably one of the most vague/distant roles within the organization. Either put them on the front lines daily or remove them altogether. The current D.M. in the Seattle area (M.H.) 2013-present- Does not inspire greatness. Does not know his employees. Does not understand how to allocate company resources. Does not reflect our company credo. If you can avoid working under is shadow, you will have a much more pleasant experience as an employee of Verizon
