Former Employee - RN Case Manager in Omaha, NE

I worked at Visiting Nurse Association Omaha full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    Nice office. Cell phone provided.

    Cons

horrible computer system, terrible management (micromanagement), 6 month orientation just to learn how to work their computer system, have to connect, connect, connect at a wifi station over and over just in one day very time consuming. Millions of emails that have to be answered immediately, demands have to be done now !!! God forbid you should finish your paperwork later in the evening, has to be done by 5pm. Couldn't wait to finally get out of there to see my patients which sometimes took 3-4 hours just to schedule patients, download them, and then finally get to see your patients, some of them an hour drive.... but no matter what have to have the documentation done by 5pm (unrealistic). Pay is just ok, nothing great. Style of management is that you are never good enough, you never do enough, very negative management that uses scare tactics, never talk about positive accomplishments, its all about the documentation not quality of care or your skills. Very ridgid expectations no independance. benifits are terrible with $3000.00 deductable for medical, might as well have none unless you have a long hospital stay. No PTO for 6 months. Watch out for your co-workers they will back-stab you. Even with years of experience in homehealth care believe me you have none when you work here. Their motto is all about caring, but not about caring for their employees. If you have a patient that for some reason were not home, you better call the schedulers, stop at a McDonalds to download another one (which takes over an hour) because if you don't see a certain number in any given day you will be demoralized. No matter how many hours you work, many hours are just dealing with their horrible computer system, you are only paid for 8 hours even if you work 12-14 hours and then you are demoralized for completing your work after 5pm. !!!!!!!! (no excuses). If you work here you better spend your entire life working, every hour of your time had better be spent on your job !!!! And then you are demoralizede on top of that !!!! No matter what you accomplish they will always find a reason that you are not good enough. God forbid you should have to stop at the bank or have to attend to a personal need. In the office they have whats called a "relaxation room" nobody is ever in it !!! They have had negative state audits and are struggling to keep their medicare license.... does that tell you anything ? Oh and you don't get to speak your opinions, cannot give your input, suggestions, or knowledge because Management knows it all and you know nothing. High turn over rate, either they leave or are fired !!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

poor leadership, no personal growth, office culture is Authortative, Get a better system. Ridgid expectations, no idepeendance, dont micromanage, improve benefits.
