    I have been working at Vistronix full-time (More than 5 years)


    Well organized/managed company that keeps growing every year. Great compensation and benefits for someone who is just starting their career, or someone in the middle of their career that is looking to strengthen their skill set, experience and know-how. Employees do get to work on projects that challenge them and help them grow as a professional. Very flexible company and great work/life balance.


    There is sometimes a disconnect between management and employees. They are so focused on growing and getting all these types of certifications that little by little they are going from a small company that really cared for their employees to a medium-to-big company that is somehow neglecting their employees. Time off (personal days) are usually a gray area. If your contract client has the day off (meaning that you will have no one to provide services to) you are forced to take personal hours if you don't have any projects to work on; including on the days of inclement weather when you can't even make it into the office due to the city being shut down. Unfortunately, if you are a senior employee, and you pretty much reached the top position in a contract, Vistronix or its management do not create any opportunities for the employee to continue growing within the company even if it means leaving the current contract they are in. They don't even offer any potential growth plan for your career. This usually means that Vistronix looses top employees because they can't offer them any potential growth.

    Advice to Management

    Try going back to caring a bit more for your employees. There is not incentives to do a great job if you don't value your employees' efforts. The employee who does the minimal and the one who goes above and beyond are pretty much in the same seat. Go back to rewarding those that excel at their positions and give them incentives to want to continue to excel. Create opportunities for your most valuable employees to grow within the company even if it means leaving a specific contract. Re-visit your personal time off policies. You should give your employees sick days and personal days that won't affect their vacation days accrued. Additionally, don't penalize your employees for inclement weather or for the client deciding not to work a certain or leaving early. We are salaried employees not hourly. If we work extra hours during a specific pay period due to a project, we don't get compensated for the extra hours we worked, nor do we get any sort of over time or incentive (such as using the extra hours as comp time). However, if due to inclement weather or the early dismissal by the client, we end up with less hours worked than was expected, we are charged with personal hours. Either raise your accrual of hours per pay period so you can account for those types of situations, or give your employees additional sick days and personal days that have nothing to do with the vacation hours you accrue. Try having more company-wide gatherings so that your employees feel like they belong to a company. Being a contractor working at the client's premises sometimes makes us feel as outsiders, and if we can't feel that connection to our company we will be inclined to look for that connection elsewhere. Create a career growth plan for your top/senior employees that have reached the top position at a specific contract. Don't neglect them. They will leave the company if they feel they won't go anywhere else in the career with Vistronix. You will retain so many more great employees if you do this.
