I have been working at Walgreens full-time (more than 3 years)Pros
-you can work at any walgreens nationally
-i was lucky to be with great people in the few stores i work(ed) at and we all got along and did work flow well.
-i worked in photo lab, management then into pharmacy certification. photo was okay, management was awful because i did not enjoy the snotty lazy employees i overlooked. not all of them, but some. and then i constantly was told i was doing well but then we get told by another manager the store manager was lying and really needed me to work on stuff... it was petty. it's not that hard being a manager.
when i got into pharmacy i was excited! Walgreens WILL PAY for your pharmacy certification classes, and 2 tests. that is something i am happy that this company does. I did not like my teacher because he was a pharm tech, not a teacher. I studied mostly on my own or with my mother.
-the computer program (storenet and intercom plus) is also national.
-i dont mind the main parts of my job, but the customers drive me crazy and the amount of new work given to us is insane.Cons
-we are given way way way too many things to ask or tell the customers. right now it's
"hi, welcome to Walgreens, how can i help you? what's your name? Have you had your flu shot yet? Do you know if you need any other vaccines? whats your address? can you punch in the last 4 digits of your phone number for verification in the pinpad? Do you have a rewards card? would you like to donate to the this charity? debit or credit or ebt? cash back? amount okay? do you have any questions for the pharmacist? thank you be well Oh and please do this survey on the bottom of your receipt and you could win $3000!!!"....... that is NOT an exaggeration. some of that we must say on the phone as well.
-most store managers i have dealth with have been power hungry unfair rude people that like to harrass their employees. i even had one that MICRO MANAGED EVERYTHING i did in the pharmacy. im almost a senior tech. i know how to do my job and she was come back and make sure i was asking EVERY SINGLE one of those questions. our hours get cut constantly so we cant work a full 40 hours. overtime is not allowed at all! and the company also doesnt allow you to have a set schedule. you have to work in random rotations. which is unhealthy for sleep and eating. we are short staffed and stores are closing bringing so many more people to our stores. Plus its flu season.... most stores only have one pharmacist on staff at a time besides a 2-3 hour layover. but having 2-3 techs and 1 pharmacist is crazy! it harms our workflow. we cant get anything done and then we get in trouble because we cant do our call list, deletes, even smart count is hard to get to! then we have to call people on the delete list now.... and bin recs, plus filling cells, cleaning, ordering for the next day, putting up inventory and posting them plus returns and salvage, cmn forms, and asking and signing people in for flu shots. then we have like 10 questions on the register.... PPL's that take HOURS! we dont have time for these things ! and we cant do them at home because we cant get paid there. plus no overtime allowed. we have no time during work hours to get those little extra things done. this list goes on and on.... it's getting overwhelming. oh and dont get me started on those new AWFUL phones.
in memphis, some stores have security guards but they only stay until the store closes and dont wait for the employees at all. just customers.
30 minute lunches.
no raises. low hourly pay. not the best benefits since the new healthcare plan moved in.Advice to ManagementAdvice
we need more people working. techs deserve at least 12.00-15.00 per hour for certified technicians like me. the work would be worth it if we got what we deserved.
give us some extra hours so we can get our things done. dont make ppl's so long.
update the broken things. i cant tell you how dumpy these pharmacies are because no one wants to pay for new furniture and tools.
dont make us say 5000000 things to customers. i get complaints on an hourly basis on how many questions we ask and the pin pads ask.
ps. the phones hang up on customers constantly and they get mad and thats how we get bad reviews.
make goals realistic. and dont be hypocritical. these bonuses the big wigs get could go to the hard working employees who cant even get a raise anymore???Doesn't RecommendNegative OutlookNo opinion of CEO
