I worked at Waypoint Homes full-time
I appreciate the opportunity and the knowledge gained by my experience at Waypoint.
Corporate execs are full of talk about how great things are, how the company is growing, and so on, and then region after region is downsized. The inconsistency and lack of security was nerve-wracking, and the blindside of the unforeseen layoff was a huge shock. When CEOs and VPs are "stepping down" right and left, I suppose that should have been an indicator.
Advice to Management
Be more candid with the teams. It is so unfair to talk about growth and profits one day, and just a few days later, lay multiple key people off. If you are expecting cut backs or downsizing, tell the team, even if you can't say what department. These decisions don't happen overnight. It's so much better to know something MAY be coming, and possibly be relieved, than to be shocked silent to the point you don't hear most of what is said when you're handed your severance information.
