Great starting job for new graduates looking to get into the petroleum industry and supervise drilling operations.

    Pros

Great pay and benefits. Typical schedule, if you are lucky to get on one right away is usually 4 weeks on and 2 off.

    Cons

High Turnover Rate. The SLS operations management team is too laid back and has no managment experience. They were grandfathered in after being "shop" hands, fixing and calibrating the equipment we use. They need to take some management classes and appreciate their job, before they can appreciate what we do in the field. A lot of money is spent on new hires due to turnover rate, if middle management was smart they may be able to save Weatherford money by keeping the already trained professionals from quitting.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

SLS Operations management needs to be more professional, (not just going through the motions), and work more with the business sales manager to discuss better opportunities in relation to number, value of employees, negotiation contracts, and future growth for the service we provide. They need to be PROACTIVE rather than REACTIVE to situations that may arise.
