I worked at Wedbush Securities full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Some of your colleagues are nice and enjoyable to be around.
    - Depending on group, you can get away with doing very little.
    - Great for work mules who do what they're told and don't complain.

    Cons

    - Extremely Cheap: Very true that all software ran at Wedbush was a few versions behind. Also didn't help that Wedbush was unwilling to pay for access to certain research sites.
    - Salaries & Bonuses are Non-Existent: Offensively low. Bonuses were pretty much close to nothing.
    - Lack of Competent Leadership: Most MDs there are still trying to "make their mark" and therefore, have no clear direction. The good MDs quickly figure out the trap that is Wedbush and leave.
    - Poor Communication: Disconnect between leadership and everyone else. Where is this group going? One day X, the next day Y.
    - No Deals: Majority, of not all, groups experience 0 deal action, which doesn't reflect well on your resume. Most companies do not want to do business with an unknown bank (Wedbush).
    - Poor Reputation Amongst I-Banks: It's a joke to most people or, nobody has heard of Wedbush.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Revamp entire upper management - do not let your family run the show when they do not have the experience, personality, or desire to run it. Invest in quality people, especially at the MD level. Bump pay - this will attract the best and the brightest.
