People Development focused. Meaningful mentorships, weekly 1 on 1 meetings with your manager and quarterly meetings with your manager once removed to focus not only on your current deliverables but on career mapping, and personal development, both soft and technical skills. Robust roles enable one to create value and expand scope beyond that of the initial role. Rotate positions fairly frequently. Every 1-2 years for titles below Manager, every 2-4 years for Manager and above.
Be ready for a small town geographic location. This can also be a plus if you prefer the quieter environment to the city. Low margin industry places a lot of emphasis on cost reduction, and limits freedom to try untested or creative initiatives like venture-esque ideas, marketing, etc. Some strong egos in leadership. Avg annual bonus payout seems to be 60-80% of the "target" amount due to company multiplier.
