    Great for experience...

I have been working at Wholesale Carrier Services as a contractor

    Pros

I have learned many new skills in my time here. Granted, most of that learning was self-teaching as a result of being given a new assignment or project and being told "Just figure it out.." Regardless, I have enjoyed the opportunity to broaden my horizons!
They have lots of perks... PTO, flex-time, 401(k), department cross-training, bagels and casual Fridays, fun-themed quarterly meetings, little in-office events, and holiday events! The health benefits are not as costly as some other places, though not the cheapest either. Still, they typically use good providers with lots of options!
I have also learned to improve my work communication skills, here! Coming from a mostly tech background, politics were something I frequently tried to avoid, but this job has forced me to become better at dealing with them successfully. I have improved as an employee through my improved ability to interpret and respond to politically charged work interactions.
In short, this job has given me multiple opportunities to learn and grow, making me a more valuable employee, both here and at any future job I may have!

    Cons

Getting answers can be tricky. Most managers say they have an open door policy, but it really depends on who is trying to walk through, what information they need, and how they present their request. Speaking directly is not necessarily an accepted practice, but on a good note, anyone with enough intelligence can figure out the best way to request information after a few months or less, if they are not already well-versed in this communication style!
Also, if you are looking for a work environment where you can be praised for coming in consistently, keeping your head down and doing the best job you can (even if you go above and beyond) without being significantly social, this job is not for you. Just doing a great job is not enough here. You must learn to participate socially, or you will not survive.
Another down side is related to HR. If you have an issue with your supervisor, unless they are not well versed in said politics and/or not friends with HR, you will have a difficult time trying to voice that concern without retribution. But this is a minor issue, as most people can surely figure out how to manage their own concerns and should not need this.

    Keep up the great work!
