Good wage, good customers, but a bit slow to train.

I worked at Wickes part-time (less than an year)

The office culture can be a bit "Old boys club" as the managers tend to know each other for a long time, everyone tends to be friendly though, and they had a good initiative for colleague of the region.

They are not flexible when it comes to illness, holidays or breaks in general. I asked for months to put my training through but it never got done. Could not get time off for bank holidays or charity days despite family occasions. I am female, I wanted to work on the shop floor but I wasn't allowed and had to stay on tills, I believe this is because of my gender and the fact shop floor was suited for heavy lifting, which I am perfectly able to do.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get some younger managers to spruce up the place. Have some more reasons for people to come to work. More rewards, training, treats, anything, because you have mostly younger workers.
