I have been working at Wilkes Regional Medical Center full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The people on my team are wonderful/down to earth and care about our clients and the work they did for our small Hospice agency. The pay for the area I live in has been good and the benefits were comparable to some of the larger agencies. Meaningful work has been important. Challenging work but life enriching and rewarding.

    Cons

Education opportunities have been scare in recent years. The trend in healthcare has been to focus on profit over services which can be extended to the community. This was not always the case and it is sad to see these changes occur. Current hospital administration does not value the importance of Hospice work and views us as an inferior department...just one of many departments in the hospital. Therefore we haven't received the support we have needed to compete with up and coming for profit Hospices and more aggressive non-profit agencies. Our caseload has declined and the hospital has decided to unload us onto a larger for profit company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Go somewhere else....work for a company which does not provide necessary services to a community. Learn to listen to those who understand the jobs they are doing and value the welfare of everyone in the community instead of simply your own. The health of a community should carry more weight than your bonus checks.
