I have been working at XtremeEDA full-time (more than 3 years)Pros
There are tons of Pros! To name a few...
The company offers a flexible schedule and understands the importance of work/life balance. My family and friends are always telling me that I have an awesome work schedule (It's true!). Occasionally I'll have to travel and put in some overtime, but it's few and far between.
XtremeEDA partners with some of the best companies in the semiconductor industry. As a consultant, I'm able to work on a variety of products and technologies. I'm constantly learning. I'm able to keep my skills sharp! I work with clients that are using the latest-and-greatest technologies, tools, and methodologies. There's never a dull moment and it keeps me interested! When I'm in between projects ( aka On the Bench ), management ramps me up on a new skill-set or I get to choose a subject and do independent research.
I have to admit, the engineers on staff are some of the brightest I've seen over the years (and I've been in the industry a LONG time). It's great working with talented folks that are open to sharing their expertise. My colleagues are always willing to help and offer advice - it's refreshing. There's great camaraderie, both inside and outside of the office.
Management is transparent and offers a true open-door policy. This is a smaller company so I never have to jump through hoops to find answers or get feedback.
As a consultant I constantly meet new people in the industry. My network multiplies by the month and I still keep in contact with a ton of folks from other companies/projects that I supported in the past.Cons
Sometimes I have to travel on a whim, but that's to be expected in this industry.Advice to ManagementAdvice
