    I worked at Xylem

    Pros

ITT Fluid Technology serves broad markets with a broad product line - pumps for water. The company has been successful over the years and has well known brands, good market share and strong distribution partners. The company is working on many of the right things, e.g. improving customer service, reducing costs, getting more done in new product development, etc.

    Cons

The company has a history of great brands, but is now living off of the legacy. Not enough investment in new product development and customer service puts the future of the business at risk. I am afraid that someone in the future will look back and wonder how the company lost its market position. The focus on increased profits is driving innovation and customer service out of the business.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Great brands need great support in all phases of the organization. The intense focus on profit improvement is driving intense actions on cost redutions that are putting the future of the company at risk. Put some confidence in your people, give them some support, and let them be successful. New hires are not always better than encumbents.
