I have been working at YWCA full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Program Staff committed and passionate. It's a paycheck.

    Cons

Executive management at national and local levels are weak. Missing ability to deliver solid programs and maintain financial stability. Many YWCAs have closed due to inability to be financially solid.. Interested more in maintaining their titles and salaries and receiving grants. Upward mobility non-existent. Laissez faire attitude about ensuring solid organizations, staff, and quality of work. Hiring is always to fill a spot immediately regardless of experience. Poor benefits - expensive health, no retirement, may have to work a year before taking vacation, no short-term disability, required to work weekends. My location has not had raises in more than 3 years. Push to keep people under 30 hours now.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide staff with a living wage.
