I have been working at Yankee Candle full-time for more than a yearPros
-love the product/easy to sell.
-discounts off candles.
-varies by store but I had ok team members and a great manager.Cons
-extremely high sales goals...and if you don't make them then there is backlash (despite that store traffic was down 20% last quarter but obviously its still the employee's faults that we aren't selling enough. To the company, there is no such thing as recession)
-low pay and no raises
-constant secret shops
-unsafe conditions (no storage room for shipments)
-constants cuts in labor to save payroll ( i have literally had to work an entire shift by myself before!)Advice to ManagementAdvice
We have gone above and beyond...we've worked other stores for you (without ever getting gas money), have carried cargo to outlets more than 3 hrs away (again not getting gas money- you wont pay for a uhaul truck) and my manager personally had to pay for an off site storage facility this yr at xmas out of pocket. Seriously, care about your workers a bit more and it will come back to you. Decent pay wouldn't hurt either!!!
-and please stop sending dozens of emails with last min floor set changes, etc...this company has death by over communication!!! you follow everything and then it constantly changes.Doesn't RecommendNeutral OutlookDisapproves of CEO
