I worked at Youth Uprising full-time (less than a year)

Plenty of room for promotions and professional growth. If you're passionate about improving a disenfranchised community and the lives of the youth existing within it, you can achieve excellence and a stellar resume simply by doing what you love. Paid vacation time for salaried employees is relatively easy to cash in.

Lots of verbal abuse. If you're not on the top of your game and willing to cover for those who aren't, you're disposable and the upper management will make that crystal clear as soon as they smell fear on you. Also, be prepared to take your work home. Even if you're desk jockey, everything will be due yesterday in the name of grant funding. It's hard to even get a lunch break here. You may not end up doing what you signed up for. I shifted between five different supervisors in less than one year here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Administration and case workers are all stretched incredibly thin. While it's honorable work, I think the center will work much smoother if the management establishes a system of checks and balances that actually works.
