JOB SUMMARY:
The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing all manufacturing activities of the company including but not limited to production scheduling, quality, raw material purchasing, inventory management, staffing and safety. The Production Manager is the leader on the production floor and shall set the example for all others to follow in professionalism, safety, and punctuality.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
· Drafts, posts, and manages weekly production schedule based upon corporate requests.
· Oversees quality control of finished goods and ensures finished goods meet ASTM specifications.
· Oversees the safe loading and shipping of all finished goods.
· Reviews and approves daily employee time records and addresses infractions in accordance with the company attendance policy.
· Collects and reviews applications for vacant production positions. Conducts interviews and hires qualified candidates to ensure the production department remains fully staffed.
· Trains new employees on respective position requirements, forklift safety and lock out/tag out procedures.
· Conducts monthly safety meetings with all employees in accordance with company policy.
· Works with the Plant Manager to maximize labor efficiencies to meet budget goals.
· Communicates with shift supervisors to understand any outstanding production needs.
· Assists with maintenance and production needs as necessary.
RAW MATERIALS & FINISHED GOODS INVENTORY:
· Maintains and reports daily finished goods inventory counts to the Plant Manager.
· Controls inventory of critical raw materials and ensures physical inventory does not fall below safety stock levels.
· Oversees the proper unloading and storing of all raw materials in accordance with company policy.
· Controls inventory of safety supplies and ensures physical inventory does not fall below safety stock levels.
· Conducts end of month and end of quarter physical inventory counts and reports to accounting department.
QUALIFIED APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:
· 4 Year college degree in production management, process engineering or other related fields
· Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in production planning, inventory and warehouse management, efficiency, and productivity improvement; quality management, etc.
· Experience in managing company safety programs including but not limited to completion of safety meetings, job safety observations, and housekeeping programs.
