I have been working at AArete full-time

I felt compelled to write this to counter some of the negative (and overly positive) reviews of AArete. If your're reading this please consider that the uber positive reviews that don't have anything bad to say were likely writing by management (who are still employees and do have the right to write a review). The overly negative ones are current or past employees who had a bad experience and are looking for somewhere to rant. The truth is likely somewhere in the middle.

-Management makes a noticeable effort to make AArete a fun place to work. Regular happy hours, office fridge stocked with beer for Friday afternoons or long nights, 5 year anniversary retreat, relaxed environment in the office, etc.

-Flexible work location. When you have to be at the client, you have to be at the client. When you are not needed onsite though, you can work from home, wherever in the country that may be. They like you to be in the (beautiful and new) home office when possible but it's not required.

-Pretty decent salary for a small consulting firm, and generous vacation

-Fairly high project turnover (3-9 months) which gives great opportunity for learning and growth

-Lots of clients and projects. We're pretty balanced and have tons of work in the pipeline. In the end, projects are what keep a company going and AArete has no shortage of current or future work.

-Lack of inspirational leadership. Management is trustworthy, moral, and do a good job of selling work. However they are not as inspiring/motivating/passionate as one would expect from people of their position.

-It seems that culture leans more towards "follow the policy/AArete methodology" than 'just do what makes sense". Many times this good, but there are instances where logic should trump "the AArete way".

-The firm is migrating to a "big data", healthcare consulting firm which makes sense as this has the greatest growth potential. Potential issues for those staff without this background/experience

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

-Leadership to make a conscious effort to act as career mentors, not just project managers/directors

    Positive Outlook
