    The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at ATB Financial.


    Pre-screen interview, In-person interview with manager, then In-person interview with manager, director, and co-worker. I had to provide references and do a written test. Pros: Fast to get back to me about next steps via email (no phone tag) Cons: Location of interviews was way out by the Airport, quite a time investment given I had to be there multiple times. The thing that really irritated me was that after 3 interviews someone who wasn't involved in the hiring process called me to say "they would not be continuing with my application." And she had no information on why. At the very least they owe me a brief explanation e.g. they want more years experience, more knowledge on banking industry, whatever! Any decent employer owes a candidate that much after that far down the interview process

    Interview Questions

    • Fairly standard questions about the role, but then they asked some bizarre questions about my knowledge of ATB. For example: "Because you're a researcher, can you tell me who the VP of our investor relations department is?" Clearly I had no idea. Even if I had googled their org chart or stalked them on LinkedIn that would not be something I would remember. If I had to guess it was my lack of knowledge on the company that didn't get me the job. I did not realize they would be so extreme about it though. No one would know that level of detail unless they were an internal applicant. They also included a written knowledge test, which I found easy, but I suppose could be a hurdle if you weren't knowledgeable about research methodology and statistics.   Answer Question
