    I worked at ATEN International full-time (More than a year)


    Benefits - vacation time, medical and retirement are all pretty good. If you live in south Orange County it makes for an easy commute


    From a sales department perspective the morale is very poor which has lead to a high rate of attrition (the 1.5 years I was there an average of 2 employees per month either quit or were fired) which is directly attributable to the CEO and HR Manager of the U.S. division. During my tenure I didn't have a commission plan for 14 of the 18 months I worked there. Other sales reps had convoluted sales plans while others were cheated out of their commissions. The most difficult part was the company culture, the corporate office seem to try to their best to impose Taiwanese culture on to the people in the U.S. culture (including employees speaking Mandarin instead of English and putting loyalties to the CEO by employees over the performance of the company). The CEO is very inexperienced, is difficult to understand because he does not have a good command of the English, is unable to effectively managing a people or formulating any coherent business strategy. Very little budget was spent on promoting the ATEN brand. The HR manager is a tool who cheats employees out of commissions and bonuses to line his own pocket.

    Advice to Management

    Create a culture the is more conducive to the American way of doing business, hire a competent CEO and formulate a real strategy ("sell more products" is not a viable strategy)

    I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at ATEN International (Taipei (Taiwan)) in February 2014.


    As normal, Nothing special. HR will come to talk first, followed by hiring manager. HR AVP will be the last one to confirm the offer. There were 3 times interviews among which a presentation was required to show the ability of thinking logically regarding product development process.
