I have been working at Abbott Medical Optics full-time (more than 3 years)

Energetic, fast placed culture. It is highly motivating to help improve people's vision in my own small way. Strong leadership team, although somewhat light in ophthalmic industry experience.

Heavy workload. Highly competitive external environment requires entire organization to rapidly adapt and be one step ahead of competition. There's a tremendous amount of change under way, and while much of it is necessary given the environment, it could be paced and gated better.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep shooting for market leadership. It is highly motivating to work for a company that has its sights set high and cares about doing the right thing by the patient. Resourcing is an issue in many functions - I would advise management to evaluate resource needs frequently given the extent of change.

    Application Details

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeksinterviewed at Abbott Medical Optics in November 2012.

    Interview Details

Interview consisted of a brief telephonic screening. I was hired on the spot after the phone screen. I had to request a subsequent face to face interview so i could interview the employer/client to understand the project details better and what i was walking into. I tried to dig as much as i could but did not realize how deep the issues were until 3 months later into the project.

    • Why are the possible reasons in data discrepancies and where in the process / systems could they be arising?   View Answer
    Negotiation Details
There was no room for negotiation. I was walking into what i thought was just another project. However, the rate/salary did not even come close to compensate for the amount of hard and unpaid hours of research and preparation that this project required.
