Great work/life balance for an ad agency but a bit behind the times

    Pros

Great benefits, great work/life balance and since the agency is privately held, the leaders a very accessible and approachable.

    Cons

My biggest complaint is that the agency is behind the times. For instance: digital projects (emails, websites, ipad apps) are PRINTED and routed manually to get hand-written mark-ups/approvals.
Second issue - the creative team runs the show. (And they are more concerned with winning awards than making the client happy). If you are a traditional art director or copy writer, you'll love it here. But if you are looking to do innovative things in the digital space, I'm afraid this is not the place for you..

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus less on winning awards and more on training/developing (and promoting) employees

    Application Details

I applied online. The process took 2 daysinterviewed at AbelsonTaylor.

    Interview Details

I applied for the position on LinkedIn. Within two hours of submitting my application, I received a call from the recruiter about setting up an interview. When I went in for the interview, I met with two people, the recruiter, and someone in HR. One of the first questions was 'Where else have you been interviewing'. We talked very little about my past experience, or why i even wanted the position. It felt more like they were trying to sell me on the agency and the job instead of getting to know me or learn about my skills and qualifications. They offered me the job before I even left the office, and wanted me to start the following Monday.

    Reasons for Declining

I turned the position down because I had a few other leads at other agencies that I thought I would be a better fit for.
