I have been working at Accruent full-time (More than a year)
Awesome people. Tons of career opportunities for those that want them. Healthy growth rate. Ubiquitous software that is mission critical to customers. Financially strong company. High customer retention rate. Improving employee retention rate. Strong commitment from the leadership team to address known gaps and improvement areas. Healthy progress and commitment to the Talent Strategy to help make Accruent an enduringly great company. Did I say great people? I am surrounded by smart, ambitious, values oriented, and super talented people that make it a joy to come to work every day.
We've gotten behind in hiring and some of our teams are struggling due to staffing shortages. We own that and are addressing it. We hired over 60 people last quarter (most in our history) and are on a path to hire even more in Q3. I am confident we'll catch up. But we will not lower our standards and dedication to hiring/retaining only those that share our values. We also got behind on compensation and benefits over the last few years in response to rapidly changing market conditions. Our Talent Strategy is aimed at addressing these areas (and so much more) and we rolled it out 6-9 months ago. It is a journey we are on and, while still early, we are pleased with progress to date. We've not equipped our managers/leaders with the training, tools, and support services to be the best people leaders they can be. Despite that, we've got many great managers. But we need to do much more and are investing heavily in leadership development to ensure that everyone has a great manager. We've fallen behind on our product roadmap efforts, in large part due to the items above. In addition to addressing the items above, we have refined our roadmap for 2H15 and beyond and aligned investments and hiring accordingly. We now need to execute on that plan.
Advice to Management
This review was written by Wayne Roberts (Chief Operating Officer) and is not anonymous. I am putting my name on it, versus many of the anonymous reviews that I've responded to over the last several months. It occurred to me that as an employee myself, I could and should post my own review and attempt to be balanced in the feedback. So my advice to myself (and Mark, Van, and the rest of the leadership team) is to do the following: 1) Stay committed to the Talent Strategy and keep funding it, 2) fix recruiting and catch up on hiring, 3) continue investing in products to catch up on the road map, 4) continue focusing on efforts that improve the customer experience, and 5) keep investing in leadership development so that every employee has the great manager they deserve. Mark, Van, myself, and the entire leadership team are committed to and aligned on the preceding priorities and we will not rest and be satisfied until Accruent is an enduring great company. If you are a prospective employee reading this review, please consider joining us in the cause. We are going to be great. Why not join us in the journey? And if you are a current employee reading this, thank you for all that you do. We are on a journey to build a great company. As a company, we have our positives and development areas. Help us grow and get better. We need you and are thankful for you. Please remember, the feedback office is always open. Come see me, email me, or stop me in the hall to chat. I welcome the feedback. Best, Wayne Roberts Chief Operating Officer
Getting an Interview
Getting an Interview
Helpful (1)Accepted OfferPositive ExperienceEasy Interview
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Accruent.
The whole process took about two weeks. After I submitted my resume, I received an email a few days later asking me to compete an assesment test. Half of it is personality-related. The other half is IQ related with 50 questions that you have 15 minutes to get as many as you can correct. It wasn't too difficult - pattern recognition, basic algebra, accuracy in reviewing matching/non-matching text, some vocab - that kinda stuff. After completing that (and passing), I spoke with a recruiter briefly and then was asked to compete the IQ part of the assesment again while being monitored (did it through webex). This is to make sure you didn't somehow cheat your way through the first one. After passing that again I was invited for interviews. I did 4 separate one-on-one interviews, plus met with recruiter for a benefits overview. All the interviews were fairly straightforward and everybody was easy to talk to. Most of the questions asked were values related to determine fit with the company culture. About 4 days after that I was contacted with an offer. The initial offer seemed way below market (which I suppose shouldn't be too surprising since that seems to be a pattern in the company reviews). I was able to negotiate a bit to at least get to an acceptable salary level. Decided to accept hoping that the opportunities for advancement and raises (biannual reviews with merit-raise possibility) they talked about are actually there. Overall, the recruiter was wonderful to work with. She kept me informed along the way and answered all of my questions very quickly throughout the process.
