Be the next Adlucite!
Adlucent is a digital and search advertising agency headquartered in the heart of Austin's hipster-chic scene, South Congress. We work with the most innovative retailers in North America who understand that consumers are on a shopping journey and the best way to get them from interest to purchase is through highly relevant, targeted advertising. And that's what we deliver.
Through a mix of data, proprietary technology, and digital expertise, we help our retail clients identify and acquire their best customers through intelligent digital advertising.
We're looking for brilliant, creative, and fun individuals who are passionate about the retail space, who hate the status quo, and who love a good challenge--whether it's in paid search or an impromptu pizza eating competition. If this is you, you may very well be the next Adlucite.
We take pride in our culture and work hard to make Adlucent a great team to be part of. We focus on providing the autonomy, connectedness and meaning that individuals need to find happiness at work. Our Balanced Life Program and the philosophy behind it, results in a healthy, productive and innovative team.
We offer: flexible hours and remote work, unlimited time-off, parental support, an annual Getaway Grant to rest and recharge, first class health benefits, retirement planning, a stocked kitchen, rooftop hammock, philanthropic opportunities, happy hours and a collaborative cubicle-free office!

While a relatively new Adlucite, I can easily say this is the best job I've ever had. The application process is challenging and long; if you don't like problem solving or puzzles, you probably won't enjoy the interview process or, naturally, the job itself. But if that sounds like your thing, I highly encourage you to apply. That being said, employing such an arduous application process has successfully created an environment of like-minded, hard working people. Adlucent fosters a thirst for challenge, growth, and being "better every day" (the Adlucent motto). Once hired, all newbs are taken through a 4 week boot camp. This is a good opportunity to get your feet wet, learn, and get comfortable in your new role. While I was completely new to the paid search world, I felt completely prepared once I was unleashed into the wild. Aside from the easy-going atmosphere, Adlucent offers a laundry list of perks. The balance day program (better known as an unlimited vacation policy) and the remote work policy make it easy to take vacations, go on that sabbatical you've always dreamed of, or just deal with something personal. Aside from that, Happy Hours are abound, the kitchen is always stocked with food, coffee (really good coffee), and tea. Every time the company acquires a new account, everyone gets champagne (at Tuesday around noon). Every day is bring your dog to work day and you can wear pretty much WHATEVER you want. Perhaps my favorite aspect of Adlucent is the company's transparency. The CEO talks to Adlucites like family; nothing feels hidden or secret. All questions, even the hard ones, are fair game. People and Culture (the "HR" department) is always eager to hear honest feedback and tries to create the most utilitarian environment possible, from stocking the kitchen to suit everyone's tastes, to getting input on events. The promotion scale is clearly laid out and you can move at your own pace. At each level, you are given a list of skills and a general expectation of what level of each you need to reach before movin' on up. There are also plenty of opportunities to merge into other fields. Finally, Adlucent cares. The company invests a lot of time and effort into employees and, as a result, truly wants to see everyone succeed and do well. If you mess up, it's an opportunity for learning, not a threat to potentially lose your job. Everyone is always willing to teach you something, and willing to listen if you have something to teach them. Sharing information, ideas, and positive feedback is the Adlucent way.
Sometimes it's cold in the office. Sometimes the coffee pot is empty and all I want is coffee now. Once I had a pretty stressful day. I really can't think of anything less trivial.
Advice to Management
Keep it up and, as the company grows, don't let culture suffer!
Getting an Interview
Getting an Interview
- No OfferNegative ExperienceDifficult Interview
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks – interviewed at Adlucent (Austin, TX) in July 2015.
First part is easy enough, just fill out an online survey and answer a few softball questions to make sure you're not a complete dummy. You'll more than likely get an email back saying that they've carefully considered you, and would like you to come in and take a 1-1.5 hour logic test. You'll probably start feeling pretty good about yourself if you pass that, and then get their 6-8 hour take home assignment. This is when things really get hazy. I'm sure the hiring process is strict on purpose, because they want to minimize any sort of risk with bringing new people on board, and want to make sure they're a good fit right off that bat. You're probably going to dig pretty hard to figure out everything this take home test asks, especially if your have no experience prior to doing this test. The most frustrating thing is that all of these questions could easily be cleared up in training, but in the age of hard number crunching and minimizing risk for bringing new employees on board, you're just another number in this case. So, make sure the answers they're looking for are right, because you sure won't know what their looking for on the rubric you can't see.
- Standard job aptitude test questions where you must figure out the "rule" before you know the answer to the logic question. Until you get the take home assignment. Answer Question
