Social Responsibility

Driving Important Green Initiatives

Pollution Prevention
30,000 cubic yards of cardboard and paper products are collected and recycled each year at Cincinnati facility

In Cincinnati, nearly 8 MM pounds of hamburger grease is recycled for use in production of bio-diesel fuel

To reduce CO2 emissions, natural gas, and electrical power, our Enid facility has installed hot water economizers and storage tanks that utilize the exhaust from heaters and steam boilers during production hours to heat and store water for night sanitation

Waste Treatment
All Cincinnati facility waste water is pretreated before discharging to the City's POTW

Environmentally friendly chemicals are used to treat waste water

We've invested over $3MM in our Cincinnati plant to reduce air emissions by nearly 90%

Energy Savings
Our Enid facility has soft start systems installed on large electrical motors. On start-up, the motors are allowed to gradually reach full power, thereby reducing the initial power demand that normally occurs with conventional start-up. This results in significant electrical energy savings.

Cincinnati facility has executed numerous energy programs which have reduced electric usage by approximately 15% and natural gas usage by nearly 20%

Water Consumption
Enid's dry clean-up process improvements result in reduced water usage. Preliminary results have shown average reduction of 18%.

Cincinnati facility has reduced water consumption from 1 MM gpd to 600 K gpd (a 40% reduction).

Internal company goal for Cincinnati facility is to achieve an additional 30% reduction in the next 2 years

Company History

undefinedAdvancePierre Foods has its roots in three family-owned and -operated companies that delivered safe, quality frozen foods for many decades.

Samuel Dinerman, a young lawyer in Cincinnati, loved to eat and to cook. His culinary talents earned him the nickname "Pierre" and when he founded his own business selling frozen food products to restaurants in 1946, he lent it his nickname.

Founded in 1973 by Paul Allen and David McLaughlin, Advance Food Company started by providing hamburger patties and breaded beef to local grocers and restaurants in Oklahoma. In 2001, a new company was formed when Advance Foods joined forces with Excel Specialty Products, a subsidiary of Cargill, to form Advance Brands, LLC.

In September 2010, Pierre Foods, Inc. merged with Advance Food Company, Inc. and Advance Brands, LLC to create a new, diverse and industry-leading food company focused on meeting and exceeding the needs of customers and consumers throughout the country.

In May 2011, AdvancePierre Foods continued its growth by acquiring Barber Foods, a Portland, Maine-based company which manufactures and distributes stuffed chicken breasts as well as other chicken products.

I applied through a recruiter – interviewed at AdvancePierre Foods.

    Interview Details

Interview day was grueling meeting with several different people, most of them asking the same questions over and over. None of them seemed interested in doing the interview. During the interview, an hourly employee almost lost their whole arm in a bad accident with a conveyor belt. During the tour, they showed me the area where it occurred and guess what? No emergency stops could be found anywhere on that line! They did not care during my interview and that sets the precedent for bad things to come if you work for them. Avoid this place!
