It's no secret that our nurses are the heart of our organization. From their countless hours of dedication to the amazingly genuine care they provide, our nurses are truly one-of-a-kind. That's why at Advocate, we're committed to giving our nurses everything they need for an enjoyable and successful career. For life, learning, caring, and the community, we're your Advocate.
Nursing At Advocate
One Big Family
At Advocate, you'll find more than nurses. More than caregivers. You'll find yourself part of a family of dedicated professionals providing care that no one else can. You'll also discover a nursing career that no one else can offer. From our commitment to ongoing learning to our work with our surrounding communities, you'll find it all at Advocate.
Just listen to what a few of our nurses have to say about a career at Advocate:
"I go out into the community and lecture at area hospitals. I've had many students that have come up to me and say, 'I'm not going to drink and drive.' It's nice knowing that you made a difference, even for one person."
- Tony, RN
"I'm like a mini resident. I'm doing the same things that a resident would do who's training to be a surgeon. I'm getting to do what I feel I do best."
- Carole, RN
"This is one of the best places I've worked with nurse-patient ratios. If things get busy they start picking up the phone and getting extra staff to come in. Even if it means paying overtime."
- Susan, RN
Individual ideas that become one voice.
Great care requires more than dedicated nursing and advanced technology. It requires ideas. The kind that bring out the best in our people and our hospitals. That's why at Advocate, you'll find our nurses are involved in making decisions that matter. They have a voice not only in patient care, but in the future of Advocate Health Care.
Whether at the unit advisory level or through our Shared Governance councils, our people have a say in a variety of issues from professional development to clinical advancement. Each is responsible for giving our nurses the resources they need, maintaining our excellence in standard care, providing educational opportunities, and instituting quality improvement plans. Every unit, every floor, every nurse at Advocate has a voice.

Advocate Health Care is the largest fully integrated not-for-profit health care delivery system in metropolitan Chicago, and is recognized as one of the top 10 systems in the country.
With 10 hospitals, 3500 beds, over 200 sites of care, and 3 large physician groups, including Advocate Medical Group, Advocate Health Centers, and Dreyer Medical Clinic, we are one of the most advanced and respected health care providers in the nation. But this would not be possible without the talent and skills of our health care professionals.
That's why we are especially proud of our 4600+ physicians who, through their actions and professionalism, exemplify our mission: "to serve the health needs of individuals, families, and communities through a holistic philosophy rooted in our fundamental understanding of human beings as created in the image of God."
The care we provide is holistic. This philosophy means we understand people have physical, emotional, and spiritual needs and their relations to God, themselves, their families, and society are vital to health and healing. Finally, we believe all people are created in the image of God. All human beings live under God's care and must be treated with dignity and respect.
We exist to serve. The core values of compassion, equality, excellence, partnership, and stewardship guide our actions as we work together to provide health services to others in our communities.
The mission, values, and philosophy of Advocate are often referred to as the MVP. By integrating them into every aspect of the organizations, these principles have strengthened the foundation of the Advocate culture in which we all work and serve.

Benefits and pto that is earned. I have nothing else good to say about working here. This is the worst position in the hospital and most worked and most disrespected.
Patient Care Technicians work the hardest and are treated like dirt by the nursing staff and no one cares. RN's walk around like they are royalty or something and talk down to the techs - without techs their job would be impossible.

I applied online. The process took 4+ weeks – interviewed at Advocate Health Care.
The interview process consisted of one interview with the hiring manager and another part with members of the team. The interview was very straight forward and not too difficult. The people I talked to really seemed to like the company a lot.
