    I worked at Aerosoles part-time (more than an year)


    If your resume and confidence is high at 16, you have a good chance of getting hired but you have to work in order to prove yourself. I worked in the New York City area and I was obviously the youngest at my location but I set myself apart from the crowd by my work ethic. I had the experience of working at the Madison Store location before it closed, and got to work at the very busy, but beautiful Rockefeller Center location. I was trained very well, learning a lot about the company and learning a lot about myself. If you are good and another store ever needs someone to pick up a shift, your manager might recommend you pick it up .. I've had this happen a few times in my year of working with Aerosoles working at the Chrysler Building, 34th Street location and many others. Aerosoles was my first real job with real money, and I picked this job up going into my senior year of high school. I most likely would've stayed in the company if I wasn't going to go away for college.


    Managers sometimes can mix their feelings into their work and it can be very annoying at times. Depending on your store, store manager, and district manager it can affect your decision on staying within the company. Luckily for me, my district manager and I had a very nice relationship but I know many others who felt different from me. Professional growth can be very hard at times because of a number of things such as location, store manager, and district manager. In order to prove to your DM that you are worthy, you must have a good relationship with your store manager because they are the ones who have to talk you up to the District Manager. My advice, get to know your boss and ask for help because they are there to help. Also, sometimes depending on the location your co workers can be very petty in competition when it comes to sales so be ready to work as if it is commission based.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    You have amazing sales associates who can take up the manager positions but you are losing them because their superiors make them feel incompetent or not ready. Aerosoles is an amazing company and hiring younger associates can help bring a younger crowd to the company.
