14th annual Chemistry Expo
Lake Charles, Louisiana
Air Liquide participated in the Lake Area Industry Alliance's 14th annual Chemistry Expo in Lake Charles, Louisiana in October. The event provided approximately 2,700 sixth-graders a hands-on look at how chemistry affects our lives in the products we use every day. Engineers and scientists from 20 LAIA member companies set up more than 70 booths, showcasing the science behind polymers, rheology, surfactants, acids and bases, and more. Air Liquide employees demonstrated the properties of cryogenic gases using liquid nitrogen and common items such as raquet balls, hot dogs, hard boiled eggs, and others.
9th Annual Air Liquide Fall Classic
The 9th annual Air Liquide Fall Classic golf tournament was held on October 21, 2013, at the Carter Plantation in Springfield, Louisiana to kick-off its annual fundraising effort benefitting the American Cancer Society. In conjunction with the tournament, Air Liquide presented the organization with a check for $50,000 - the total amount raised by Air Liquide employees in the previous year. The funds raised contribute to the American Cancer Society's efforts to help find cures and fight back against cancer. The annual Air Liquide Fall Classic, a scramble-style charity tournament, is orchestrated each year by Air Liquide employees from its operations in Southeast Louisiana.
Energy Day 2013
Air Liquide sponsored Energy Day 2013 in downtown Houston, a family-friendly festival geared toward K-12 students that highlights and demonstrates innovation in energy to spark interest in energy-related careers. A group of Air Liquide employees manned the Air Liquide booth as the Freeze Team, demonstrating the properties of cryogenic nitrogen and carbon dioxide through entertaining experiments involving common items like pencil erasers, raw eggs, baloons and carnations.
BP MS 150
On April 20-21, 2013, Air Liquide joined thousands of cyclists in Texas for the BP MS 150, a two-day, 180 mile fundraising cycling ride from Houston to Austin. Air Liquide participates in the BP MS 150 each year to help raise awareness of Multiple Sclerosis and to help fund research led by the National MS Society geared toward treating and eventually curing MS. Funds raised also helo provide services for those living with MS. The BP MS 150 raises over $15 million for Multiple Sclerosis annually.
Texas Diversity Council Leadership Conference
Air Liquide was proud to sponsor the 9th annual Texas Diversity Council Leadership Conference in Dallas, held April 3-5, 2013. The conference included more than 40 sessions touching on various diversity and leadership topics: multiculturalism, race and ethnicity, gender, generations, LGBT issues, disability, mentoring, personal branding and many others. Air Liquide partners with the Texas Diversity Council on many events throughout the year and is committed to diversity and inclusion. Members of our Human Resources team are shown with keynote speaker and diversity activist Soledad O’Brien.

Air Liquide has a healthy company culture. It is a financial powerhouse with strong business models tailored to the markets it serves. It's long-term perspective helps to ensure the health of the business long into the future. It is generally risk averse, with the exception of development of its people. It moves people into leadership position outside their comfort zone which allows for quick growth and results in well rounded leaders.
Steady business sometimes leads to a lack of urgency in decision making ... if we aren't the first mover, that is okay ... we will win in the end.
Advice to Management
you have a solid development program for high potentials. Keep this moving while you work to develop the workforce. We need programs to develop the drivers, plant operators, and distribution and plant managers of the future.

I applied through college or university. The process took a day – interviewed at Air Liquide (Houston, TX) in March 2015.
Met a recruiter at school career fair. Received an interview a few days later. Recruiter asked questions from my resume and other skills questions. Was like any other interview, but company seems like they were very selective in hiring because of effect on oil and gas industry decline.
