I have been working at Allegheny Technologies part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

A huge opportunity for anyone starting out, students will be hard-pressed to find a better learning experience for their field.

    Cons

Incredibly high stress for students because the work loads are full time work loads on part time hours. Currently in the IT department, we have a staff of anywhere from 2 - 7 part time college students managing over 7 plant sites country wide, including their plant's user base as well as Wah Chang's own users.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Students deserve competitive pay raises and vacation time from a multi-billion dollar company, even if they are temps.

    Application Details

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 6+ monthsinterviewed at Allegheny Technologies in February 2011.

    Interview Details

Application to interview took six months of waiting. Interview itself was not too aggressive. Basic knowledge of chemicals, safety, and a good work ethic would get you through the door. Experience with a lot of heavy equipment (hydraulic and cranes) and molten metals would get you in faster than a mosquito in a nose dive.
