    Application Details

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2+ weeks - interviewed at Alliant Technologies in December 2013.

    Interview Details

It was simple process, but very 1st Red Flag was when the 1st interview was with the CEO. In my 20 years of work experience this was very strange.

Technical interview followed which was very pleasant and went very well.

    Interview Questions
    • Nothing out of ordinary. 1st interview with the CEO was indeed shocking. More than an interview the chat with the CEO was more like a sales call. I felt like he was trying to justify what they do and trying to sell me Alliant.

      Very confused company...
        Answer Question
    Reasons for Declining

Alliant is a Cisco Gold Partner, but they don't like it when you call them a VAR even though everything that they do is done by a VAR, very strange. I asked for benefits package to review and that was one of the reason not to accept it. I can say 401k is non-existant as they hardly match anything.

I asked if there is any bonus plan, specially if you work on Bill of Materials and SoW for customers and they No. So basically what they are saying is, if you sell hardware and services to a customer everyone gets commission with the exception of person who actually worked on it or helped selling it.

Salary they offered me was 25k less than the offer I received a week later with another company. I asked Alliant about training, but did not get straight answer, which led me to believe that there is no training program at all.

So in a nutshell, 25k more salary+better 401k+bonus+better training program, it was a no brainer not to choose Alliant....

Hope this helps everyone who gets an offer from Alliant to make a decision.
