An organization with a proud history and admirable mission that is struggling to adapt to changing times.

I worked at American College of Physicians full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Although this organization is a not-for-profit, it offers decent salaries and some excellent benefits: on-site gym and cafeteria, automatic 401K contributions, very nice office space, and a parking garage (if you ever make it off the waiting list).

    Cons

Managers tend to run their departments like fiefdoms, and there is less cooperation among departments than one would hope. The organization spends a lot of time and money chasing trends rather than providing innovative products and services to its physician members.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be faster to adopt new technology in order to keep up with your members. Be willing to cut projects that are loss leaders, even if they have been in place for many years.

I applied in-person. The process took 2+ monthsinterviewed at American College of Physicians in January 2008.

    Interview Details

Quick to respond. Multiple interviews, took a while to finally get hired. One person who interviewed me (no longer there) asked an illegal question.
