I have been working at American Railcar Industries full-time

    Pros

Wonderful people with a tremendous depth of knowledge about and passion for the rail industry. Industry is booming right now and company growth is guaranteed for the next couple of years. You are allowed a great deal of autonomy, which is very nice.

    Cons

Pay grade is slow to keep up with competitors and as a result, talent is leaving at an alarming rate. No "sick day" policy and small amounts of vacation. The majority of the company is nearing retirement age, and at times, policies can reflect an older point of view. (Not a progressive workplace)

Its two Arkansas manufacturing facilities make several types of railcars including covered hoppers for grains, cement, and other dry bulk and tank cars for liquid and gas commodities. The company also serves non-rail industries with industrial products... More
