Amtrak: America's Railroad.
Amtrak connects America in safer, greener and healthier ways. With 21,000 route miles in 46 states, the District of Columbia and three Canadian provinces, Amtrak operates more than 300 trains each day — at speeds up to 150 mph — to more than 500 destinations and we employ more than 20,000 people across America. The name "Amtrak" is the blending of the words "America" and "track." The railroad is also known as the National Railroad Passenger Corporation.
More than just a convenient way to travel, Amtrak is also energy efficient. Traveling by rail contributes less per passenger mile to greenhouse gas emissions than either cars or airplanes. According to U.S. Department of Energy data, Amtrak is almost 14 percent more efficient than domestic airline travel and 31 percent more efficient than auto travel on a per-passenger-mile basis.
The safety of our passengers, our employees, the public, and our operating environment is our priority and the success of our railroad is the result of our employees. Our trains connect businesses and communities across the country and moves America’s workforce towards the future.
Amtrak employs more than 20,000 diverse, energetic professionals in a variety of career fields throughout the United States. We seek qualified, dedicated professionals with demonstrated work experience and/or relevant skills to join our team.
