With a pedigree that includes companies such as CA Wily, HP Mercury, BMC, Symantec, Vontu, Oracle, and Sun, the team has created enterprise-grade solutions deployed at thousands of organizations.

Jyoti Bansal

Founder and CEO

Jyoti founded AppDynamics in early 2008 with the vision of defining the next-generation of application performance management (APM) solutions for distributed applications running in cloud, virtual, and physical environments. Before founding AppDynamics, Jyoti led the design and architecture for several products at Wily Technology. Wily was the pioneer and leader in the Java performance diagnostics space, and was acquired by Computer Associates for $375 million. Before Wily, Jyoti worked in senior engineering roles at Datasweep (acquired by Rockwell Automation) and netLens (acquired by Microsoft through FAST/Nextpage), where he built distributed application architectures for enterprise search and data mining. Jyoti received his BS in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. He is the lead inventor on 14 US patent applications in the field of distributed applications management.

Stuart Horne

Vice President of Business Development

Stuart joined AppDynamics in 2011 and is responsible for forming strategic alliances that drive growth and revenue for the company. Prior to joining AppDynamics, Stuart was Vice President of Technology Alliances and Commercial Sales at Informatica, where he grew the company’s OEM partner base threefold over three years while growing OEM revenue over 100%. Before that he was Senior Director of Technology Alliances at Mercury Interactive, where he contributed to the company’s expansion into new customer ecosystems via strategic partners and contributed over $300 million in annual worldwide sales. Stuart has also held senior positions at SeeBeyond and PeopleSoft, and started his career as a consultant at Booz-Allen & Hamilton and Andersen Consulting (now Accenture).

Ed Rowe

Senior Vice President of Engineering

Ed joined AppDynamics in 2012 and is responsible for all Development, Quality Engineering, Documentation and Release Management. Prior to joining AppDynamics, Ed was VP of Product Development for Adobe’s developer products including Flex, Flash Builder and Cold Fusion, leading over 100 developers, testers and product managers across multiple countries. Ed was the driving force behind Adobe AIR, and co-founded and led AIR as a startup project within Adobe. Before that, Ed was one of the key engineers behind Adobe Acrobat Reader, a product used by hundreds of millions of people worldwide.

Joe Sexton

President of Worldwide Field Operations

Joe joined AppDynamics in 2012 and is responsible for all field operations, including sales, marketing, business development and customer success. Prior to joining AppDynamics, Joe was Executive Vice President of Worldwide Sales at McAfee, where he was responsible for $2.5 billion in annual sales and managed an organization of 2,000 people. Under his leadership McAfee doubled its sales, resulting in a $7.7 billion acquisition by Intel in 2011. Before joining McAfee, Joe served as Senior Vice President of the Americas at Mercury Interactive, where he helped triple sales to $1 billion by establishing Mercury’s leadership in the Enterprise market. While there, Hewlett Packard acquired Mercury Interactive in 2006 for $4.5 billion. Joe has also held executive sales positions at EMC, Integrated Concepts, and CA Technologies. Joe graduated from the University of Kentucky with a bachelor’s degree in marketing.

Hatim Shafique

Vice President of Customer Success and Operations

Hatim joined Appdynamics as the first hire to help support customer success. Since then he has helped build a world-class organization that has produced groundbreaking Net Promoter Score results, indicating strong customer satisfaction and loyalty among the AppDynamics customer base. As VP of Customer Success and Operations, Hatim is responsible for helping customers through technical support and continuous education & enablement; he is also responsible for SAAS & IT operations as well as sales enablement engineering. Before joining Appdynamics, Hatim was Director of Quality Engineering at CA Wily where he helped build and grow the onshore and offshore quality engineering teams and led the overall quality initiative for the Wily APM product suite including their flagship Introscope product. Hatim also played a key role in Wily's expansion into .Net and End User Monitoring. Before joining Wily, Hatim held several development and QE positions working on Java /J2EE products. Hatim holds a Masters in Computer Science from University of Southern California.

Bhaskar Sunkara

Vice President of Product Management

As VP of Product Management, Bhaskar is responsible for product management, user experience, and field engineering enablement at AppDynamics. Bhaskar also drives AppDynamics' Customer-centric Innovation methodology to combine customer feedback with fast-paced innovation. Bhaskar was an original founder of AppDynamics and served as Director of Engineering responsible for all product development. Prior to joining AppDynamics, Bhaskar was Lead Engineer at Wily Technology, where he pioneered a dynamic instrumentation engine as well as the company's product expansion into .NET. Prior to that, he was Lead Engineer for Pramati Technologies, where he was one of the key people behind the design and development of their J2EE Application Server. Bhaskar received a B.S. degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Madras University.

Frank Swain

Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales

Frank brings to AppDynamics over 25 years of sales and executive leadership selling IT, cloud, and application performance management solutions. With deep expertise in direct and in-direct sales models, his goal is to build a world-class team. Prior to joining AppDynamics, Frank was Vice President of Sales and Business Development at Makara; before that, Frank was SVP of Worldwide Sales at Splunk, where he built a worldwide sales organization and grew revenues from $500,000 to $35,000,000 in three years. In addition, Frank ran Worldwide Channels for Wily Technology and was Global Account Manager for Mercury Interactive.
