The curriculum pulls from all different areas of study, making each day different. Working with assistants allows me to see how others react to situations. The building is new and the facility is beautiful. Parents are awesome and I am able to build relationships with all sorts of families.
Wages are not competitive. Turn over rates make consistency difficult and puts a constant strain of tension through scheduling and ultimately our director. Our director is spread too thin, making professional mentoring and communication near to impossible. Little to no room for advancement. Little to no training other than online classes.
Advice to Management
Create a promotion system! When hired in and given little hope for any significant raises, it makes job hopping look tempting. Follow through on reviews and help maintain open communication with all levels of staff. Teachers and assistants are not empowered to feel confident in their own work. Have directors have time to meet with individually with staff. When directors are always at the front desk and overworked, it doesn't allow for teachers to approach with concerns without feeling disruptive or exposed to every passerby.
