I worked at Avelo MortgagePros
Company Strengths Generally: Ability to learn outside core job functions. Ability to transfer, within the company, into a more suitable position as new skills are acquired.
Legal/Compliance Generally: Avelo's Legal & Compliance Departments are desirable. Department supervisors do not micromanage employees. Rather, they support employees' initiative, expansion of core competencies, and industry specific training. Legal/Compliance supervisors will allow increased responsibility when employee demonstrates ability. These supervisors recognize, and show appreciation for, individual and team effort.
Legal/Compliance Pay: Entry level positions (e.g., quality control analyst) in the Compliance Department pay more than other departments. Paralegal salaries meet industry average. Quality of attorney/paralegal relationship is a strong selling point.Cons
Mortgage industry fallout has resulted in mass layoffs.
Should current Legal & Compliance Department Supervisors resign, the job wouldn't be as desirable.Advice to ManagementAdvice

I applied through an employee referral. The process took a day – interviewed at Avelo Mortgage in August 2011.Interview Details
I was referred and received a call from Avelo HR about position opening up. A phone interview was scheduled for the following week with the manager of the team. It was supposed to be a 20 minute interview.
The questions asked were not overly difficult, but I gave rather terse and uninteresting answers! Lot's of questions about my experience in real estate analysis and Excel skills.
After the interview, I called HR back and said that I was interested. HR said awesome and that she would let me know of the decision after she talked to the manger. She never called back!No OfferNegative ExperienceDifficult Interview
