In October 2008, Avis Budget Group partnered with the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) to establish the UNCF/Avis Budget Group Corporate Scholars Program. This program provides students that attend historically black colleges and universities (HBCU) with up to a two year scholarship and paid summer internship at our World Headquarters and Virginia Beach shared facilities. Avis Budget Group has also successfully recruited and employed students from HBCUs including: Howard University, Johnson C. Smith University, Florida Memorial University, Tougaloo College, Spelman University and Morehouse University.

Women's Leadership Group

In April 2011, Avis Budget Group created the Women's Leadership Group (WLG). The WLG is a mentoring group, which was formed with the goal of increasing engagement and retention levels of females; attracting female talent; enhancing the development of female employees with mentoring and educational programs; and leveraging female talent to improve employee and customer loyalty.

Employee Involvement

Employee involvement is an integral part of how we do business and defines our culture. Each employee has the opportunity to be heard and the ability to effect change through employee participation groups, Avis Experience & Performance Groups (EPGs), and Budget's Pride Committees. Each month, Operations identifies a specific area of improvement to be discussed by the teams. Employees are also encouraged to identify business opportunities, ideas or suggestions to be discussed at their meetings.

Active in Our Communities

Avis Budget Group is committed to being a responsible member of the communities in which we operate. Our charitable efforts include support of national organizations including the American Cancer Society, the American Red Cross, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Wounded Warrior Project and Veterans Across America. Locally, employees organize grassroots efforts in support of numerous organizations, including Habitat for Humanity, Toys for Tots and other regional nonprofits.

Voice of the Customer

The Voice of the Customer (VOTC) survey is an ongoing customer satisfaction survey sent to Avis and Budget car renters via email. The VOTC survey captures and measures customer satisfaction based on the customer's rental experience with a specific rental location. Managers use VOTC data to understand the customer's experience and enhance it where gaps exist. The results of the survey provide each location the opportunity to pinpoint their location's strengths as well as opportunities to improve customer satisfaction results.

Performance Excellence

Avis Budget Group places a great emphasis and value on identifying and solving problems. Performance Excellence (PEx) is a team based, "process improvement" initiative that works with associates in identifying problems and implementing solutions to run our business more efficiently, creating greater customer value and generating sustainable cost savings, without ever compromising on our promise of service excellence. PEx gives the associates a standard set of tools to identify opportunities, improve our processes, and reduce waste. Our goal is to make lasting improvements. Ideas generated from associates are critical to our ongoing success and are welcomed.

Rewards and Recognition

The Company's recognition program consists of varying levels of recognition, from On-the-Spot awards, such as gift cards given out locally, to more formal awards requiring nomination and management approval. Compensation

Avis Budget Group's compensation practices are designed to support the Company's strategic business plans, reward excellence on the job and provide competitive salaries to our employees. Salary increases are not automatic, but must be earned, and are based primarily on each employee's performance. Consistency in salary determination is important to ensure equity, facilitate transfers and employee development, and manage compensation costs. At Avis Budget Group we follow a Pay for Performance philosophy that helps ensure employees are paid fairly and consistently across the organization and includes competitive base pay and an opportunity for bonuses.

Community

Budget Rent A Car is supporting the Wounded Warrior Program, a nonprofit non-partisan organization, in its efforts to raise awareness of severely injured servicemen and women and to provide much needed assistance to these veterans and their families. Budget provides transportation assistance as well as support for fundraising to enable the Wounded Warrior Project to further its efforts. Veteran Employee Spotlight

Thomas M. Naiman, CPA, Director, External Reporting, has been the Director of External Reporting since he joined Avis Budget Group, Inc. in October 2006. Prior to starting his 18 + year career in accounting, Tom served four years in the United States Marine Corps, as an Infantry Squad Leader being promoted to the rank of Corporal. Tom's success at Avis Budget Group comes from the skills he gained and developed in the military. He attributes his success to the team work, discipline, leadership, ability to develop solutions, strong work ethic and accountability that he gained and developed during his military. Thank you Tom for your service to our country and to Avis Budget Group.

Recent Graduates

Recent college graduates looking for a great jump start to their career choose Avis Budget Group because of the great foundation that our training programs offer. Students that are well suited for our Operations Manager Trainee program participate in a 30 week training program that cross functionally prepares them with a well-rounded view of our operations. The training program covers everything from sales and customer service to operational management including managing a P&L, hiring, coaching and mentoring employees, as well as inventory and fleet control. On the corporate side, our Pricing Analyst roles, based out of our World Headquarters located in Parsippany, NJ, also offer a great place to start your career if your goals are focused more in building a career focused in a corporate setting. The Pricing Analyst role builds a solid foundation in gathering and analyzing data, interpreting patterns and trends, recommending and influencing regional decisions, as well as building great interpersonal and relationship building skills. In just a short period of time recent graduates, whether field operations or corporate focused, are able to see how their background and experience, coupled with the training they receive from Avis Budget Group, prepares them to add value and contribute to the success of the company.
